Dancer ~ Choreographer ~ Teacher ~ Artist

Rachel Stratton is a 22-year-old choreographer, dancer, teacher, and writer from Fort Wayne, IN. Beginning her training at the age of nine, Rachel started her artistic journey in the world of competitive commercial dance until the age of seventeen, due to mass studio closures from the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, Rachel dedicated her time to expanding the breadth of her training and delving into her personal artistic and choreographic practice, choreographing her first two works: Healing (2020) and All For Us (2021).

She continued her education at Indiana University Bloomington, where she majored in Contemporary Dance (B.F.A) and an independent study in American Policy and Social Power (B.A). At IU, Rachel has worked on a variety of productions as a performer, choreographer, and dramaturg both through the Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance and through University Players, an undergraduate-led student theatre group on which Stratton serves as the Co-Director of Movement and Choreography and Director of Development.

In addition to her work in choreographic, theatrical, and performance spaces, Stratton has worked on the administrative side of the performing arts. She is the former Development Intern with the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, having worked on grant proposals and reporting, fund development, and donor stewardship activities during her eighteen-month tenure with the organization.

Currently, Rachel Stratton is working on her first evening-length work, As I Return to the Earth, which is set to debut at Indiana University in February 2025.
